Bedouin, camels and hermits,
this, the classic tour of the Judean Desert and Dead Sea
region. We depart Jerusalem and travel to Gebel Ali Montar to
enjoy an outstanding view of the Judean Desert, Dead Sea and mountains
of Moab. Driving through the wilderness we reach Mar Saba.
A fortified monastery built 1500 years ago in the side of a mountain.
From there we descend to the Horkania Valley and travel along
the Kidron cliffs for a picnic lunch break. On to Kibbutz Mitzuke
Dragot and the Dead Sea for a swim. We return to Jerusalem via
Jericho on the old Roman road in Wadi Kelt, stopping for
a breathtaking view of the hanging monastery of St. George.
